In the heart of Tanzania, amidst the sweeping landscapes and vast potential of renewable energy, AEROVOLT TANZANIA’s journey began as a visionary initiative under the Green Masai Foundation (GMF). What started as a grassroots effort to harness wind energy in the picturesque Mbuga Nyeupe, Longido, and the slopes of Arumeru in Arusha has evolved into a multi-billion-dollar venture, setting the stage for a transformative impact on the energy landscape of East Africa and beyond.
Our History
Harnessing Tanzania’s Wind Resources- Tanzania is blessed with abundant wind resources, and AEROVOLT has positioned itself to tap into this potential. Through careful evaluation and scientific assessments, we identified the leeward sides of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru as ideal locations for our wind energy projects. Our wind turbines, standing at a towering 160 meters, harness the steady winds with an average speed of 9.72 m/s at 150 meters height, ensuring optimal energy production. These turbines are designed to capture and convert the wind’s power into clean, sustainable energy, providing an initial output capacity of 63.1 MW to the region’s grid, aligned with the forecasted loads of local substations.
From NGO to Corporate Evolution- AEROVOLT TANZANIA’s story began with Green Masai Foundation’s goal to explore renewable energy solutions for rural communities. With an unwavering commitment to innovation, our team conducted thorough wind resource feasibility assessments, evaluating terrain, wind patterns, and infrastructure capacity. What started as an NGO-driven mission has now matured into a fully independent corporate entity, with the scale and expertise to meet Tanzania’s growing energy demands while continuing to uphold our core values of environmental sustainability and community empowerment.
