Building a Strong and Independent Africa
Why now?
EAPP Strategic Opportunities
AVT is also expanding its renewable-energy portfolio through modular solar, decentralized energy and energy-efficiency solutions designed for businesses, communities and strategic market segments across Tanzania and Africa.
As of 2025, the East African Power Pool (EAPP) member countries collectively maintain an estimated current installed capacity of
approximately 12,972 MW, with major contributors being Ethiopia (4,500 MW), Tanzania (3,431 MW), Kenya (3,321 MW), and
Uganda (1,346 MW). Planned expansions across the region aim to significantly boost this capacity, bringing the total projected
installed capacity to over 39,000 MW by 2044, assuming successful implementation of all projects including Ethiopia’s Grand
Renaissance Dam (6,450 MW), Tanzania’s renewable and hydro scale-up to 8,000 MW, and Kenya’s target of 5,000 MW by 2030.
However, energy demand projections reveal a much steeper curve, with Tanzania alone anticipating 17,611 MW peak demand by
2044, Kenya projecting 36,291 GWh annual consumption by 2042, and Uganda targeting a consistent 10% annual growth in
demand. When aggregated and modeled with conservative estimates for countries like Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Djibouti, and
Eritrea, total regional peak demand is expected to exceed 60,000 MW by 2044 and approximately 35,000–40,000 MW by 2030.
This reveals a stark mismatch between supply and demand, with an estimated 21,000 MW deficit by 2044, even if all planned
expansions are realized. This indicates that the region would still face an approximate 35–40% supply shortfall, underscoring a
critical need for additional investment, cross-border interconnections, decentralized renewable solutions, and strategic market entry
opportunities for players like AEROVOLT TANZANIA LIMITED, particularly in transmission infrastructure, smart grids, and
off-grid energy technologies.
AEROVOLT TANZANIA LIMITED (AVT) is entering a defining phase in its renewable-energy journey. The company is advancing its flagship 200 MW Wind Energy Power Project in Northern Tanzania from project development toward structured bankability, with increasing focus on evidence, technical validation, regulatory pathways, grid integration, strategic partnerships, and investment readiness. AVT’s approach is evolving from simply developing an energy project to building a disciplined, financeable infrastructure platform capable of attracting institutional capital and world-class technical partners.

Frequently Asked Questions
Wind energy is highly reliable when integrated into a well-planned power grid, especially when combined with other renewable sources like solar and hydroelectric power. Advances in technology have made it possible to predict wind patterns more accurately, ensuring a consistent energy supply. Many countries have successfully integrated wind power, proving its reliability on both small and large scales.
Countries like Denmark, Germany, and the United States have made significant strides in adopting wind energy. Denmark generates over 40% of its electricity from wind, while Germany has one of the largest installed capacities in the world, contributing significantly to its energy mix. These successes demonstrate the scalability of wind energy, from powering small communities to contributing a major share of national electricity needs.
The global trend toward low-carbon energy is driven by the urgent need to mitigate climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and protect the planet for future generations. Renewable energy sources, like wind, offer a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, helping countries achieve their environmental goals while also providing economic and social benefits. Transitioning to low-carbon energy solutions is not only about preserving the environment but also about creating a resilient and sustainable future for all.
The future of renewable energy, including wind energy, is incredibly promising, with continuous advancements in technology, cost reductions, and increased global commitment to sustainability. Wind energy is expected to play a crucial role in achieving net-zero emissions by mid-century, with projections indicating that wind could supply up to 35% of global electricity demand by 2050.
